Where the money comes from, and where it does not.

Some links on this site earn us a small commission if you buy through them. It never costs you anything extra. We do not recommend anything we would not recommend for free, and no company pays us to say nice things about them.
An affiliate link is a normal link with a tag on the end identifying where the visitor came from. If you click one and buy something, the seller pays us a small percentage of that sale. You pay the same price you would have paid otherwise. The commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.
Links to wallet software, node projects, and open source tools are plain links. Those projects do not pay anybody, which is part of why we like them.
The order runs one way: we decide something is worth recommending, then we check whether an affiliate program exists. Never the reverse.
Plenty of things on this site earn us nothing at all, and some of them are our top recommendations. Sparrow Wallet, Bitcoin Core, and mempool.space are free and pay us nothing. If a product paid extremely well but we thought it was bad, it would not be here.
Nothing obligates you to use our links. Search for the product directly, buy it from the manufacturer, or find it used. We would rather you get the tool than that we get the commission. If it matters to you, buying hardware wallets straight from the manufacturer is generally the safer practice anyway, since it reduces the chance of a tampered device.
Whatever this earns goes toward keeping the site online, printing materials, and covering odds and ends for meetups. Nobody is drawing a salary from it. Realistically it is a small amount of money that offsets a few costs.
Clicking an affiliate link may let that company set a cookie in your browser so they can attribute the sale. That cookie is theirs, governed by their privacy policy. Our privacy policy covers what happens on our end, which is very little.

Recommending a book or a piece of hardware is not financial advice, and nothing on this site should be read as telling you what to do with your money. We are a meetup group, not advisors.
If anything here seems unclear or you think we have a conflict of interest we have not disclosed, tell us. We would rather fix it than defend it.
